Dirk Gerlach
An attorney at law, Dirk Gerlach began his professional career in the aviation industry in 1988 when he joined Deutsche Lufthansa. After managing contracts and warranties for two years, he transferred into aircraft sales and soon after assumed the position of head for aircraft acquisitions and marketing. In this role, he was the driving force behind the sale of more than 180 aircraft as well as the subsequent acquisition of A320-family aircraft for the Lufthansa fleet.
In 1998, Mr. Gerlach further distinguished himself as one of the founding fathers of German Operating Aircraft Leasing (GOAL), Lufthansa’s independent aircraft leasing arm. In the same year, he became GOAL’s managing director.
After leaving Lufthansa in late 2000, Mr. Gerlach became a partner in Airtrails GmbH, located in Zug, Switzerland.
In 2003, Mr. Gerlach returned to his home town of Hamburg, Germany, joining Automatic LLC as a partner and serving as the company’s European representative and later as a principal. Since then, he has contributed significantly to Automatic’s overall business success.
Dirk Gerlach holds a law degree from Kiel University.
